Many happy returns of the day to friends I'm lucky to know. (And even those whose birthdays have passed - well, consider this my wish that the days after your actual birthday were just as good, or even better.)
To rmjwell , an aficionado of bodies, dance, photography and incisive thoughts and comments, many happy returns of Oct. 4 - may it have been an excellent day, with family and friends around you. It was a joy to get to know you all those years ago when you were a Midwesterner, and I still look forward to the day when you're able to come east from the Left Coast to visit.
To supergee , who was the very first person to suggest to me, via his own activity, that one could enjoy a lively social and mental life via online journaling, a very happy birthday today (at least there are still a few hours in Oct. 6.) You were always a master of both brevity and, when necessary, extended essaying. I valued that as far back as the old rasff days on Usenet of blessed memory. I tried to learn from your example, and occasionally I do well at it. Many happy returns of the day.
And finally, to heatherbelles , who is now well on her way to Oct. 7 - I'm told that your Oct. 6 was very good, filled with family, as well as an excellent curry. Huzzah! Although our communication is much less regular than when TWoP was a thing, I'm so glad that I came to know you there. I learned about history, how to look at history, and how to help other people look at it, thanks to you. And of course, we shared a love of Dr. Who that I think we still share. I am glad to have met you, and hope that we continue to stay in touch in some fashion.
